Las Trampas Regional Wilderness rises steeply above the San Ramon Valley — grassy ridgelines, oak and bay woodland, and big views across the East Bay, prime dog-hiking country.
"Las Trampas" is Spanish for "the traps" — a reference to snares trappers once set in the dense chaparral here to catch elk.
