The full paved loop around Lake Elizabeth, the 83-acre man-made lake at the heart of Fremont's Central Park, with the Mission hills rolling along the skyline across the water. A cloudy, still afternoon — willows and pampas grass along the bank, and Canada geese and mallards working the shoreline the whole way around.
The lake is man-made: it was excavated out of the old Stivers Lagoon marsh in the 1960s, and the lake and park were dedicated in 1969 to Fremont's sister city, Elizabeth, South Australia. The walkway around it runs about 2 miles.
