Acadia National Park sits on Mount Desert Island on the coast of Maine. It is known for Cadillac Mountain — the highest point on the U.S. Atlantic seaboard — along with pink-granite domes, the glacially carved Jordan Pond, exposed cliff trails like the Beehive and the Precipice, historic carriage roads, and a rugged rocky shoreline.
Teddy and I spent our days here on the granite coast — walking the wooded boardwalk trails, scrambling the pink-granite ledges above the surf, and dropping down to the beaches and coves along the shore. We wandered the Down East harbor towns between hikes, watched the waves come in, and found a cascade tucked into the woods.
